2 Ways to Get Your DVD Player Working Correctly Again

When you want to watch a movie on your DVD or Blu-ray player, you want the player to work immediately. Things can be really frustrating if you can't get the device to work right. However, there are some things that you can do to get it working so that you don't have to miss your movie or buy a new one.

Get It to Open

If the problem is that you can't get the drawer of your DVD player to open, there is an easy way to get it to open. Your player should have a manual eject button on it. However, it's not easy to get to. You will need to have something small that you can stick into the hole to access the button. Something like a sewing needle, safety pin, or paper clip that you have straightened out. You want to make sure that the object you put into the manual eject hole is stiff. Otherwise, it won't be strong enough to depress the button. Once you have depressed the button, the drawer should open. Make sure that you turn the player off before you try this. Look to see whether you can see what is blocking the drawer. Try using the regular button to open and close the drawer to see whether it now works smoothly.

Get It Clean

Another way that you can get your DVD player working again is to clean it out. One problem that DVD players can have is that they can collect dust. There are a lot of reasons for that, but one of them is that there are air intakes in the player so that it won't overheat. Dust, hair, and other miscellaneous debris can get caught in the vents for the fan. Ideally, you should just brush the player off every week or so, but if you haven't done that in a while, all that dust clogging the vent can make the player malfunction. To get it clean, you will need to unplug the machine, find the vents, and pull off everything that is clogging the vents. You may want to get something like canned air so that you blow any dust out of the fan. Don't use any kind of liquid on your player because it can destroy your player altogether.
